Don’t Be Hip, Preach!

“preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.”

‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭4‬:‭2‬ ‭ESV‬‬

This week, I watched a pastor getting a tattoo while giving a sermon.  I don't care if a pastor has tattoos, rock skinny jeans or a beanie while preaching.

The thing these pastors need to know is we are called not to be hip, but to preach.

If your people are not content with you and a Bible,  your church has real problems.

The Gospel is not a gimmick!

When I'm on my deathbed or a parent is burying their child, how cool their pastor is not going to be on their mind. It will not anchor them to Jesus in their dark times. But Guess what will?

The Living Word.

That's our call as pastor. Point people to the Risen Lord through the preaching of the Living Word.

“Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation, to teaching.”

‭‭1 Timothy‬  4:13

Could you imagine the Apostle Paul walking in some of these churches?

Saints, listen to pastors who preach the Word and live it. Pastors who do not make the Gospel a gimmick for self-glory.

Prayer-

Father, wake these pastors up. We are not call to be hip, but to preach. Amen.
