Even When They Don’t

“And the one who sent me is with me—he has not deserted me. For I always do what pleases him.””

‭‭John‬ ‭8‬:‭29‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Best Friends will betray us. Children will desert us in Nursing homes. Spouses will walk out on us. Fellow Christians can even say we no longer are in God’s graces.

But this is not true. Jesus knew this heartache first hand. His friends, including the inner circle all bailed on him before the resurrection. But like in the face of the Pharisees in John 8, he knew his Father was always with him.

Likewise, every member of the Trinity loves us and will never give up on us. Their love sustains us in our lonely seasons.

Dear one, I’m sorry they rejected you. God loves you. Run to him.

Limp on! Limp well. Limp loved.

Lord, thank you for always loving me, especially when they don’t. Amen.
