What Jesus Taught Me

May 24, 20231 min read

I became a Christian in 2000 and Jesus has been teaching me this for 23 years. When I try to tell fellow Christians this about my cerebral palsy being the something better, they look at me with blank faces. Over the weekend, I was putting a cart back at a store and a employee grabbed my hand and said, “Son, I’m praying for total healing in your body.” I replied, “Thank you sis, but Jesus has me on a a bigger mission then personal healing.”

My life is a living example of the God showing up in thorns in 2 Corinthians 12:7-10.

“But he told me: “My kindness is all you need. My power is strongest when you are weak.” So I will brag even more about my weaknesses in order that Christ’s power will live in me. Therefore, I accept weakness, mistreatment, hardship, persecution, and difficulties suffered for Christ. It’s clear that when I’m weak, I’m strong.”

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭12‬:‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭

I now pray, “Jesus, use my cerebral palsy for your kingdom.”

And he has never said no to that.

In 2000, if God healed a 19 year old Michael, then I wouldn’t be here now with a life in ministry helping others who are limping and hurting for Jesus.

Jesus is Lord over our disabilities too. Nothing is accidental or by chance.

That’s real hope.

Do we ignore healing? Nope

But when he says no, we look for his greater purposes in the thorns.
