When You Are Hard On Yourself
By: Pastor Mike Matthews
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
Matthew 11:28-29 ESV
There are days I don’t feel like a good Christian husband, daddy and pastor. I can be very hard on myself. How about you?
We all have days we are a little too hard on our souls.
Often, I think Satan sits back and marvels at the hell we put ourselves through. He doesn’t have to lift a finger when we are our own enemy.
Weary one, turn your heart to God’s Word and not our fleeting feelings.
Jesus says we are forgiven and totally His. Come to him again for rest and to remember who you are in Him.
You are deeply loved my fellow limping Saint. Limp on! Limp well. Limp loved.
Prayer-
Lord, remind me my rest is in you. Your mercies are new everyday. I can’t stop being hard on your child. Let me love myself the way you love me. Amen.
