Forgiving Friends After Divorce

“And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” And they cast lots to divide his garments.”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭23‬:‭34‬ ‭ESV‬‬

When a couple goes through a divorce, it’s a confusing time for everyone including friends. It’s human nature to feel like you need to pick a side or many try to remain neutral. Either way, it feels like rejection and it hurt.

As for the reasons above, forgive them. It was a confusing time for you so yeah, give them some grace.

I'm not saying these friendships will continue or look the same way again, but God wants you to let them off the hook for hurt they may not know they caused.

Lord, divorce was a confusing time and it felt like friends hurt us. We forgive them. None of us knew what to do. We all need mercy. Amen.
